[Xrayops] Update

[APS Experiment Hall X-ray Operations Problem List]

This morning the storage ring experienced a vacuum fault caused by the downstream 13ID undulator coming into contact with the insertion device vacuum chamber.   Currently, the insertion

device group is in the process of removing the damaged insertion device so that the vacuum chamber can be inspected.    We should know

by 6:00 PM today if the vacuum chamber needs to be replaced.     If the chamber needs to be replaced, we anticipate that the minimum downtime will

extend for an additional 30 hours to 12:00 A.M. Thursday morning (Wednesday night) .     We are currently preparing a replacement vacuum chamber so that additional

delay is not caused as a result of the decision to replace the chamber.    We will provide an update today at 6:00 PM or after the insertion device is removed

and the vacuum chamber is inspected, with the anticipated return to normal x-ray operations.
